The busiest season for tourists in Belize runs from November to May, with December to April marking the dry season. During this time of year the amount of rainfall is less than in the summer months, although still common. Temperatures are also cooler, and due to the fact that it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere, many decide to visit Belize during this time.

The most extreme months are February and March on the dry end, and April in May on the hot end. Coastal towns see an average temperature of 70 to 80 degrees during the dry season, but heat up to the 90s in April and May.

Belize normally sees its share of hurricanes during the fall months of October to November, however the season actually runs from June to November, and this year the storms are starting earlier than normal! A day early, to be precise. On May 31st, one day before the official start of hurricane season, Arthur dumped torrential rains on southern and northern Belize.

The rains caused extensive flooding in areas and actually shut down the Costal Road and the Hummingbird Highway, which lead to southern Belize.
